Before you reserve a puppy...

...here are a few things to consider...

Every year nearly six million dogs die in pounds and shelters. That is six million dogs that someone thought they wanted, and then changed their minds. Many of these dogs are purebred dogs that someone invested time and money in, and then changed their minds. Please, think this all the way through and check out National English Shepherd Rescue before reserving a puppy.

A few questions to ask yourself before you reserve a puppy:

1.
Although individuals vary, many English Shepherds live to be 12, 14 even 16 years old. It is like bringing in a new member of the family. This dog will come to view you as its family and will depend on you. Ask yourself, "Am I ready for that kind of long-term commitment?"

2. The initial financial investment of purchasing your new puppy is only the beginning. There will be food, toys, collars, beds, houses, veterinary bills, fencing, and many other costs too varying to mention.  Many of these things will need to be purchased before you pick up your new puppy. I do not mean to paint a picture of overwhelming burden, but this is a financial commitment. Ask yourself, "Am I prepared to take on the responsibility for supporting this new puppy?"

3.
English Shepherds are bred to be working dogs. They are active and although they typically have a great on/off switch, they do need a task. That task can be herding stock, guarding fowl or stock, guarding the family, or providing companionship. If you are looking for a friend that can
do your bidding while at the same time thinking independently, then you will love these dogs! They do, however,  need a leader who can provide a firm hand and plenty of positive reinforcement. Ask yourself, "Will I provide an environment in which I can nurture and bring out the best in this dog?"

 4. Do research! (A good place to start is our Links Page.) I love English Shepherds; but they are not for everyone. Find out as much as you can about these amazing dogs, then, if after much consideration, you are interested in reserving one of our puppies,  we look forward to hearing from you.

Reserving a puppy

We practice good breeding habits as defined by the English Shepherd Club Breeder's Code of Ethics.  We have been very selective in our breeding process and will also be selective in placing our puppies. We have placed puppies both in working environments and as pets with good success because of our breeding and placement choices. We will only place puppies in homes that we feel will provide the right environment.

To reserve your puppy, we ask for a $200 deposit. The deposit is deducted from the cost of the puppy and the balance is due before delivery. Puppies will be available for placement at eight weeks.  The litter will be registered with both UKC and ESCR.  Puppy registration papers will be available to register your new puppy with either or both of these registries.

The cost of female puppies is $550.00 and the cost of male puppies is $500.00.
